What’s your current position & how did you reach here?
Cherry Thelmo Fernandez - I'm currently the marketing head of a cybersecurity solutions distributor based in New Zealand. I started out as a journalist - specialised from lifestyle to business to I.T. - and as I had kids and could no longer do the graveyard schedule editors inevitably get into, I moved onto PR. Realising I had more to offer with my educational background in human behaviour, I successfully ventured into marketing consultancy and events management. I'm hooked into almost all things digital, so evolving into digital marketing was a natural progression in my career. It's all about hard work, continuously upskilling, and rolling up my sleeves when needed.
What will success look like for you in your work in the next few weeks?
Cherry Thelmo Fernandez - I'm initiating the company's inbound marketing strategy and marketing automation with onboarding scheduled within the next few weeks.
What are you actively focused on learning about these days and how?
Cherry Thelmo Fernandez - Continuously upskilling in digital marketing technology (including digital design), learning more and more about cybersecurity solutions (something I never imagined myself doing), and ensuring I have a work-life balance.
What has been your biggest challenge recently and how did you overcome it?
Cherry Thelmo Fernandez - Getting senior management to understand and appreciate what inbound marketing can do for both B2B and B2C.
How do you prioritize your tasks/projects for the day/week? Do you use any special methods or frameworks?
Cherry Thelmo Fernandez - I use an online task management app, schedule tasks based on urgencies and scope, note deadliest deadlines for tricky ones, tick each one off as I complete.
What have you found to be the most effective marketing tactic/platform, beyond social media?
Cherry Thelmo Fernandez - Blogging, providing informative, interesting, and relevant content.
If you had the time to add one more project or tactic to your marketing, what would it be, and why?
Cherry Thelmo Fernandez - Hire another me to help me do what I do.
What is a key metric you’re measuring these days, and why?
Cherry Thelmo Fernandez - Google Analytics to see how much traffic our marketing efforts get, how much sales were generated from adwords.
If you could choose to implement only one marketing tactic for the next 3 months, what would you choose to do?
Cherry Thelmo Fernandez - Inbound marketing, hands down.

Cherry Thelmo Fernandez - Email marketing and social media (LinkedIn and Facebook).
What problem are you focused on solving for your customers/audience/users/fans? What is their biggest need that you (or your company) are helping with?
Cherry Thelmo Fernandez - We have 2 types of customers: resellers and end-users. For the latter, the company has not done any marketing activity for them in years. We're going to change the inbound marketing strategy I'm initiating.
